Our non-alcoholic drinks lounge and food shop is based in the heart of historic Winchester. Using our collection of hundreds of old British cookbooks, we make innovative and sustainable products using the lost knowledge of the past. The menu is made almost entirely from ingredients that we make ourselves, including our own foraged spices, honey from our apiary, and cobnut butter that we roast in-house.

  • Most tea and coffee on the market is highly unsustainable and definitely not local. We will not help contribute to the impending environmental catastrophe by becoming a coffee shop. Plus, it’s not very bold and curious to do what everyone else on the high street already offers.

    We are however, working tirelessly to find solutions closer to home . We would encourage you to try our mulberry leaf matcha, Vietnamese coffee made from local roots and seeds, or locally foraged oolong tea instead.

  • A lot of people think the person on our logo is a historical figure. But it’s actually the founder, Eoghan, who helps pick the plants, keep the bees, and tap the trees to produce our wonderful food and drink.

    In an environment of greenwashing and obfuscation, it is refreshing to know who is accountable for the ingredients going into your food. If you see him in the shop, feel free to pick his brains and say hello!

  • Our ethos is to rebuild traditional, locally-based food systems. Many milk alternatives are highly-processed and have lots of airmiles, so we have determined that it is better to walk our un-homogenised, low-pasteurised milk down the road from the local dairy each week.

    However, we do have a policy of creating one non-dairy drink for every dairy-based drink we introduce and are also working on exciting non-dairy ‘milks’ that are minimally processed and made from native ingredients.

  • Our drinks are designed to be drunk as they come for the best experience, so we politely decline to make any substitutions or modifications. We do however, offer to happily switch out any drinks that are not to your taste to find one that does suit your palate, as they are quite varied in flavor.

  • We offer foraging classes in our ‘Courses’ section of the webshop which are intimate in size and designed to be as practical as possible. We are also always on the hunt for people who believe in our cause to add to the team.
